Building on the groundwork of Level 1, members will expand their grammar  and vocabulary to grasp mainstream Italian from newspaper articles. They may even begin to ignore the subtitles in Montalbano!

With a solid understanding of grammar and core vocabulary, members can handle Press articles and contribute pieces for our link branch in Italy itself. Lunching in spoken Italian will be encouraged.

This final level will involve an emphasis on spoken Italian to prepare members for possible visits to our link branch in Italy. Broader skills will be encouraged for a potential attempt on GCSE qualifications by those who wish to try. The ideal will be for the most competent members to establish their own start-up classes in future.

These sessions will involve little formal teaching but lots of opportunities to put existing knowledge of grammar and vocabulary into practice. We will start with short, structured dialogues and develop active knowledge of spoken Italian. Building on this, participants should gradually feel able to engage in short conversations about a range of topics.
