Digital Photography for Beginners

This is a one term course intended to make the conversion from film photography to digital photography easy.

The course content will cover the basics of digital cameras from the fully automatic mode through to the use of all of the features associated with digital cameras. These include scene modes, white balance, film speed and the use of manual facilities where these are available. Also covered will be memory card capacity and the impact on image quality.

The basics of photography will be covered including composition, control of depth of field, pre-focussing, the zoom lens and when and when not to use the on-camera flash.

Members do not need to have a computer to benefit from this short course but those that have will be introduced to the various computer photo processing programmes and the benefits of using them. These include minor adjustments such as brightness and colour correction.
