The Yoga practised is HATHA-YOGA meaning physical Yoga. Yoga is a Sanskrit word meaning YOKE - `unity of mind and body. Yoga combines exercises (called asanas) with breathing and concentrates on holding the posture as long as possible. Yoga is stretching the body and so improving flexibility. Physically it promotes concentration, balance and relaxation, all so important as we grow older.

This class is suitable for people who have done some yoga but all members work to their individual strength.

Classes are held in a clean, well lit, heated hall large enough for 20. It is easily accessible and central. I offer individual help where needed. The atmosphere is convivial and the objectives clear. Members are there to learn and to practice at home, in order to delay the onset of many ageing processes and to maintain remediation of problems already in existence. We make connections with life-style choices and health options. Emphasis is on flexibility and well-being, suppleness and balance. Work is differentiated. Students have shown great commitment through attendance and the purchase of equipment.

This is a Hatha Yoga class which means it is about physical effort and the Yoga postures. Yoga is a complete exercise because it includes mind, body and breath and once you start using all three correctly you will realise your body's full potential. You will also notice extra benefits like finding it easier to relax and improvements in concentration as well as increased physical strength and flexibility.

This Easy Yoga class is suitable for beginners and for those who have done some yoga before. By starting very gently and building up week by week to master postures, this back to basics style will suit everybody. You may feel some benefit after one class but Yoga is not a 'quick fix'. However, with patience and effort I am sure you will soon begin to notice the benefits of practising Yoga not only in the class but also in your everyday life.
