Waterloo Social Club, Plantation Road, Waterloo, Poole

Thursdays: 10:00am to 12:30pm ~ Chicago

This activity provides a friendly environment for those who have mastered the basics of contract bridge, and wish to play with fellow third agers of a similar standard. The sessions are geared to providing a 2½-hours playing Chicago bridge (a modified form of rubber bridge) with a break for tea or coffee and biscuits.

Please phone Jeanette Legg on 575377 if you need help in finding a partner, or would like more details of this session.

Thursdays: 12:55pm to 3:55pm ~ Duplicate

This is the only Duplicate Bridge Club offered by Poole U3A. Duplicate is a natural progression for players familiar with Chicago: the play and the scoring are the same. How many times have you heard players say “Of course we did badly, we had rotten cards!”  Well, in Duplicate Bridge you get just as bad, or good, cards as everyone else. The method of play, and the progression from one set of opponents to the next, guarantees that you play exactly the same cards (against different opponents) as every other pair. The winners are the pair(s) that get the highest score. This makes the game an exciting challenge, where every extra trick counts.

Please phone Joan Blackmore on 01202 602383 for more details of this session.
