Ukulele Beginners
Canford Cliffs Village Hall - Meeting Room, 17 Ravine Rd, Canford Cliffs, Poole BH13 7HT

Please see day and time information on the Class Finder page

This class is for complete beginners, who have a good sense of humour. It will start with how to tune and hold the ukulele and how to strum a few basic chords to accompany songs. Good for multitasking and exercising ‘the little grey cells’ whilst trying to look at the song on the page, sing and use both hands. You do not have to be able to read music, but it helps if you can count!

Please phone Ann Smith on 700675 for more details of this class.

This class is for those who have made a good start playing the ukulele and now want to develop their skills in a small mutually supportive group. We learn strumming and plucking patterns, chord/melody and tablature and add in some essential music theory. We work with a core set of songs and tunes and try out new ones occasionally for fun and variety. You do not have to consider yourself to be a singer (though some of us like to sing) as our emphasis is on the ukulele itself.

Please phone Linda Dry on 604325 for more details of this class.

‘Ukulele Jam’ is for competent/advanced ukulele players. We strum, pick and play melody lines. All participants need to sing confidently and choir members are particularly welcome. Songs are played from memory/by ear and from music, and class members are encouraged to perform ‘party pieces’ in small groups. Each year ‘Ukulele Jam’ play about 25 concerts at community events, parties residential homes and street charity collections. Donations that we receive are all passed onto charities. Jam members are expected to take part in as many gigs as possible.

Potential new members, please talk to Linda Dry on 604325.
