Table Tennis

This activity is held on Mondays and Fridays for two hours each session and offers relaxation to Poole u3a enthusiasts. We have three tables and an indication of its popularity can be seen by the fact that members attend regularly. Meeting at Canford Cliffs Village Hall, we usually play doubles so that members enjoy more games in each session. Standards of skill vary, but it is surprising how quickly new arrivals who ‘haven’t played since their youth’ quickly discover their former abilities. This has developed into a social occasion, when friendships are forged and a good time is had by all, lots of socialising and many many laughs!
On Mondays, the two sessions are of similar standing; it was just that there were so many in the original group that it was split and extended so that we could accommodate more people. Both groups are nearly at capacity, but there are slightly fewer attending the later session, so we do still have space.

Fridays: 10:00am to 12:00pm
This is a table tennis class which has run for many years and requires some co-ordination/ability at the game. It is mainly doubles play using the new international scoring system.

Mondays: 3:00pm to 5:00pm
Session 2
A table tennis class for those of an intermediate to good standard who wish to improve with practice in a social and fairly competitive environment under the 2001 rules. We expect all players to provide their own bats but some are available on a temporary basis.

Table Tennis - Beginners and Improvers (109)
Wednesdays: 2:00 to 4:00pm
A table tennis class for those of a beginners standard who wish to improve with practice in a social and uncompetitive environment. We advise on the new rules but provide no teaching or coaching; you just improve by play. We initially provide all equipment but expect you to provide your own bat once you have decided to stay.

This is a friendly, informal group & we welcome all abilities. We play doubles, giving everyone the chance to have fun as well as gain experience.

Table Tennis - Intermediate (110)
Mondays: 9:00am to 11:00am
This is an informal friendly group of mixed abilities, but not beginners. We also welcome players returning to table tennis after some years absence.
We have three tables in a spacious hall and play doubles, changing partners throughout the morning. We normally have tea/coffee around 10am. We occasionally have friendly competitions etc.
