Ukulele Beginners
Canford Cliffs Village Hall - Meeting Room, 17 Ravine Rd, Canford Cliffs, Poole BH13 7HT

Please see day and time information on the Class Finder page

This class is for complete beginners, who have a good sense of humour. It will start with how to tune and hold the ukulele and how to strum a few basic chords to accompany songs. Good for multitasking and exercising ‘the little grey cells’ whilst trying to look at the song on the page, sing and use both hands. You do not have to be able to read music, but it helps if you can count!

Please phone Ann Smith on 700675 for more details of this class.

This class is for those who have made a good start playing the ukulele and now want to develop their skills in a small mutually supportive group. We learn strumming and plucking patterns, chord/melody and tablature and add in some essential music theory. We work with a core set of songs and tunes and try out new ones occasionally for fun and variety. You do not have to consider yourself to be a singer (though some of us like to sing) as our emphasis is on the ukulele itself.

Please phone Linda Dry on 604325 for more details of this class.

Ukulele Jam is a friendly and welcoming band of singers/ ukulele players who enjoy sharing their love of performing throughout the year to a variety of audiences - social clubs, assisted living and care home residents, and at special events - whilst raising money for local charities. We have an extensive repertoire of songs to draw on for our "gigs". You will have opportunities to develop your strumming, finger picking, singing and overall performance skills in a supportive and fun environment and, if you wish, to practise and perform solo/duet and small group "party pieces".

NB If you would like to join us it is essential that you phone me or email me, Linda Dry, the class leader, to discuss your potential place in the class.

Potential new members, please talk to Linda Dry on 07946 974319 or [email protected].

This class is aimed at players who feel comfortable handling their ukulele and want to get some more experience, mix with people from other groups and develop self-confidence. There is no formal teaching and you do not need to read music. We'll be strumming and singing and, along the way, you're bound to pick up hints and tips from each other. And who knows where this might lead - in 2017, I played with the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain. OK, there were a couple of hundred of us, but I shamelessly put it on my CV!
